The Levy

From April 2017 employers with an annual pay-bill of 3 million or more are paying into the government’s new apprenticeship levy.  The levy is collected monthly via HMRC PAYE and paid into the employer’s digital account.  The amount is 0.5% of the monthly payroll.  Levy paying employers are able to use their levy contributions (plus a 10% top up from the government) for the new standard apprenticeships.  Employers have 24 months to spend their levy funds before they are reclaimed by HMRC.

Standard Apprenticeships

The new standard apprenticeships are now aimed at all existing employees as well as new employees.   The government has relaxed the rules on apprenticeships, which means everyone from new starters to senior staff/management can now become apprentices and have their training within the levy apprenticeship contribution.  It is just not for new employees.

Main Provider - Level 3 Team Leader/Supervisor standard apprenticeship

Selection Training has been awarded ‘Main Provider’ status for the new standard apprenticeships and can work with any clients who pay the levy into a digital account.

Currently Selection Training offers an ILM Level 3 Diploma for Managers which fully maps over to the Level 3 Team Leader/Supervisor standard apprenticeship.  Upon successful completion of the course, on programme assessments and end point assessment, the delegates as well as achieving their apprenticeship will also achieve an ILM Level 3 Diploma for Managers.  The formal training course duration is 12 days at your site, spread over a period of between 12 to 18 months (typically a day of  training every 4 to 6 weeks).   The dates for training are to be  agreed between us to fit in with your working schedules.  This course is fully funded via the digital account, so no additional cost to you.

Full support will be given to all delegates over and above the training by prearranged informal site visits, telephone support, video link support (via WebEx), email and specific ‘one to one’ coaching.

Selection Training aims to turn the delegates into good learners with self-directed learning enhancing the formal training sessions.  This means that they start to develop a good sense of what they need to do themselves and then set about doing it, from the start of the programme. This is especially important when fulfilling the role of a team leader / supervisor / manager as it instils good practice.

Functional Skills

All delegates will benefit (if required) from full support for Functional Skills (Maths and English).  Selection Training is a City and Guilds Centre for Functional Skills and can offer delegates a tailored service to ensure that they can confidently achieve the required standard to conclude their Apprenticeship.  There is no additional cost to the client as this is covered by related Apprenticeship funding.
